Jesus Son of God

Part VII

God has given us His own Son and He will rule the whole universe. “For a son has been born for us, a son has been given to us, and dominion has been laid on his shoulders; and this is the name he has been given, ‘Wonder-Counsellor, Mighty-God, Eternal-Father, Prince-of-Peace’ to extend his dominion in boundless peace, over the throne of David and over his kingdom to make it secure and sustain it in fair judgement and integrity. From this time onwards and for ever, the jealous love of Yahweh Sabaoth will do this.” Is 9:5-6.( NJB). The glory of God and His might contain its fullness in Jesus. God had a tremendous plan as he became incarnate in Jesus, the new Adam, to renew the first Adam he had created in His own image and likeness. God himself came down from Heaven to destroy the sin of our fallen nature. Our Saviour is Jesus, the Son of God, the Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. He brings salvation to the whole world by giving his life for us. In this Christmas season, a reflection from St Pope Leo the Great , is very appropriate:”   God’s son did not disdain to become a baby. Although with the passing of years he moved from infancy to maturity, and although with the triumph of his passion and resurrection all the actions of humility which he undertook for us were finished, still today’s festival renews for us the holy childhood of Jesus born of the Virgin Mary. In adoring the birth of our Saviour, we find we are celebrating the commencement of our own life, for the birth of Christ is the source of life for Christian folk, and the birthday of the Head is the birthday of the body.“ The Christmas season is going to end by today. It was a beautiful season and we enjoyed it with great pleasure and joy. Let us pray to the Heavenly Father to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus that we may overcome all the dangers of evil.
