Our Lady of Mount Carmel

Today is the Feast of our Lady of Mount Carmel. I remember the days I visited Holy Land. Our group led by Fr Euigene went to this mountain and found it was so beautiful. The lunch severed by Carmelite Sisters were so tasty and they served with beautiful smile on their faces, an unconditional love radiate from their fsces We all remembered how the ancient monks lived this mountain to experience the zeal and grace of St Elijah and of course the grace of Mother Mary and her protection of those leading a spiritual life. 

Oh Mary, how beautiful this mountain looking into sea of Mediterranean 

So beautiful to see the surroundings of the mountain by the beautiful land 

With many of trees and bushes which is extending to the farthest forest land 

Lord has glorified you on this mountain 

Oh Lady of Mount Carmel, 

You were called the Star of the Ocean 

You are the one praying for seafarers 

The ocean travelers looking to your image for help 

You are called, our Lay of Mount Carmel 

Our Lady has given the Scapular to St Simon Stock 

He started the revival of the Order of Carmelites

And through Mary our Mother the Order was not dispersed 

Elijah stood on the mountain 

He told his helper to look to water from the cliff of the mountain 

The helper saw a tiny cloud rise from the sea

This cloud brought heavy rain to end a terrible dry spell

 

The monks followed the spirituality and zeal of Elijah 

They were so zealous and lived like him in the caves 

They led a life of contemplation and silence by pondering God’s Words 

They eat what they get from the surrounding vegetation

A hymn to Holy Family 

Br  Brillis always quote about Holy Family and stress about holy family life  in the community. He mentioned many times in his  ‘Families are heart of  the Church. St pope John Paul II and Pope Francis also says about the families which makes the community and a country as a whole. Pope Francis says’ Families are heart of the Church and hope of the Church and of the whole world. Pope John Paula II said that ‘the families are the Domestic Church’ 

Family is Heart of the Church 

Lord, even you were born in a manger 

Lord, you lived in the Holy Family, the fulfillment of the Heavenly Father 

Till the time was fulfilled to preach the Kingdom of God

to everyone the present, past and the future

Lord Jesus, You gave an example of family life

As you obeyed your parents, 

To teach the whole human race how to obey parents,

The first steps of the ladder to obey the Living God  

Lord, we all brought up through the families 

You brought us into the world to practice the true faith in You

Lord Jesus, you were born in the Holy Family’

Which was the plan of the Heavenly Father to David and other Prophets 

Lord, family is a place for a child to nourish his or her faith from thier home.

The parents are the teachers to teach them the faith and love of God 

Oh Father, you created a great family, the Holy Family 

To bring Your child, Your own Son into the world

Jesus was called a carpenter’s son 

It may be disgrace by humanly way 

But God allowed His Son to be humble and to bear all humiliations

Even he is the King of kings and Lord of the lords

Lord, we are praying for our many families

Some are broken by troubling circumstances of this world 

Lord, the children are suffering by the broken families 

The single parents are suffering, by their untimely separation

You only can bring them hope by uniting them 

Lord, give them your humble and gentle heart 

To forgive and forget each other and heal the wounds from their heart 

Pope St Paul VI said; “Next, there is a lesson on family life. May Nazareth teach us what family life is, its communion of love, its austere and simple beauty, and its sacred and inviolable character. Let us learn from Nazareth that the formation received at home is gentle and irreplaceable. Let us learn the prime importance of the role of the family in the social order.”

God, your Word came into this world

To bring salvation for all humanity

Stars of the heaven twinkling with joy

The choir of the angels welcomes the Little One

Lord, you chose the lowest comfort on earth

To become the poorest of the poor

This way to make yourself, you are for all

The rich and poor would find the way of truth in you

Am I worthy to receive Him under my roof

He looked into my heart with joy

I searched Him in the midst of stars

Then I saw a star shining brighter than other stars

In the silent night and in the chilling wind

I was walking where the star guided me 

 I saw the shepherds coming on my way

They all carried with best gifts they have

But I am the worthless one carry no gifts for my Lord

Woe to me, am not having any virtues

Lord, you never ask our wealth or virtues

But, You only asks our cheerful heart

  

We saw our Lord of lords in a manger

Mary and Joseph the poor mother and father

The most blessed parents on earth

A unique model to bear all the suffering, to have the child, the Son of God

Holy Innocents, a Tribute

 

Holy Innocents, a Tribute 

Oh Lord, the infants martyrdom was the true sign, that 

The King of Kings was born and glorified

God protected His own Son, handed him over to the 

Earthly father, holy Joseph to protect Jesus,

God’s angel told Joseph to take mother and child and flee from Judea to Egypt 

Holy Joseph, a just man took mother and Baby Jesus to Egypt

Thus God saved His own Son as the prophets told,

God has brought him out of Egypt

The furious King Herod killed the infants in Bethlehem and the surrounding places,

As the prophecy is fulfilled, ‘a voice is heard in Ramah, lamenting and weeping bitterly: 

it is Rachel weeping for her children, 

refusing to be comforted because they are no more.’ 

Oh, Holy Innocennts, you all were the witnesses for the Lord’s coming into this world

God has chosen you to be as oblations to show the love to the world

Your sacrifice became the lesson and sign to whole humanity,

To love life and give life to all unborns in wombs of mothers

Lord, the martyrdom of these all innocents were given us the hope

That no longer we will allow to kill our infants and unborns

The pain in the hearts of the mothers, fathers and their Guardian Angels,

became as prayers for the unborn and infants of all generations

A Poem on St Mary Magdalene

St Mary Magdalene Carrying the Oil of Nard to anoint the Feet of Jesus 

On 22nd July 2025

A Very Happy Feast of St Mary Magdalene 

I will bless the Lord at all times, His praise continually on my lips.

Mary Magdalene

Oh Mary Magdalene, Lord has  chosen you, to see Him first after the resurrection to tell the story to his brothers (Apostles) and to the whole world without the fear. 

She said: I sought but could not find him!
So I shall get up and go through the city;
In the streets and in the squares,
I shall seek my sweetheart.
I sought but could not find him!
I came upon the watchmen—those who go on their rounds in the city:
‘Have you seen my sweetheart?’
Barely had I passed them when I found my sweetheart.
I caught him, would not let him go

Jesus said to her, ‘Do not cling to me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father.
Come my bride, come to me, come closer to me,
Let my kiss enrich you with my Divine Mercy.
I’ll bring the light into your life,
Forget your own father’s house of your world.

Come to my Fathers’ house of eternal glory,
Where you can have milk and honey abundantly
The honey is sweeter than the honey of your world
No money no wealth can buy this

Come my bride, come to me and hold my hand
Come to my green pastures to give you rest
Come and drink the living water,
I give you, which flowing from my heart

I give this entire blessing; to those I loved so much,
And those who loves me with all her heart,
But you are my heart and soul,
Rest on my chest and hear my song of love

I have chosen you among all the lilies and roses
And from all that beauties of this world
But I ask you one thing, only one thing,
Will you give me your heart to make a home for me?

Community of Grace

Note: Actually it was written while I was reading the Song of Songs many years ago, and today's reading also was from Song of Songs. Because of today is the feast of `Mary Magdalene, and thought this will be appropriate to honour her with this poem. Thank you Lord, for reminding us about your loving saint, St Mary Magdalene.

Oh Little Francis

 

Happy  Feast of St Francis Assisi 

Oh Francis, you sacrificed many things of this world, you embraced the way of littleness to approach eternal life! 

Oh, Little Francis

Oh! Little Francis 

The poorest of the poor 

You imitated Christ 

In everything you have done

You made an example 

To the young and old

You are the humblest servant 

Chosen by God, to serve the flocks of Christ

You left all the wealth of this world

To gain the wealth of Heaven

You poured out the charity 

On all the Creatures of God

Your love is inspiring 

Still in the hearts of millions

You were the channel of peace

Peace that the Lord has endeavoured 

Lord has given a key to you 

To open the hearts of the wearied souls

Help us to seek the life in holiness

The peace and joy in the Holy Spirit

You have loved the nature ardently

You praised God’s creations by giving Him thanks

You love peace among the nations

You never wants to be loved but to love all

When I Love Jesus

When I Love Jesus 

When I love Jesus my Lord,

He gives me tiny pains.

He protects me from becoming proud.

When I sin, He consoles me;

He leads me to ask His forgiveness,

He invites me to be reconciled.

When I am not loving Him,

He leads me to repent;

He invites me into His presence.

When I love Him,

He guides me into silence,

To speak to me in secret.

When I love Him,

He leads me to reflect upon Him,

He gives me endless hours to be with Him.

When I love Him,

He leads me to know Him more and more,

He reveals Himself to me.

When I love Him,

He does marvelous things for me,

His right arm embraces me.

When I love Him,

He leads me to glorify Him;

He guides me to praise Him.

When I love Him,

He makes me love others,

Even to love my enemies!

When I love Him,

He rejoices;

He starts speaking to me.

When I love Him,

He leads me towards others,

To know their misery and pain,

To counsel them in His Name.

When I love Him,

He does miracles,

Of which the most beautiful of all

Is His presence in the Holy Eucharist.

I love the Holy Mass;

When a Holy Priest sacrifices the Holy Eucharist.

Oh Jesus I love you in the form of the most tiny piece of Bread.

When I am hungry,

He feeds me

With His Word and the Word made flesh.

Lord, how can I make a return

For all these wonders of eternal wealth,

With which You have endowed me day after day?

Lord Jesus, I trust in You,

I thank you for all Your countless blessings,

With which You will continue to bless me,

Till the evening of my life!
