The Daily Word of God

Daily Word On 7th Feb 2024

Eat the flesh of Jesus and drink his blood to live in eternity

John 6:54–56 (NJB): Anyone who does eat my flesh and drink my blood has eternal life, and I shall raise that person up on the last day. 55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in me and I live in that person.

In the Gospel of John, chapter 6, Jesus reveals several times that his body and blood are the eternal food. Another blessing He offers is that those who receive His Body and Blood with reverence will be raised on the Last Day. He will raise us, therefore we should take advantage of every opportunity to attend Holy Mass. The priest's consecration during Mass is a repetition of Jesus' sacrifice on Calvary. This mystery is the greatest blessing we may receive on earth on a daily basis through Holy Mass. We should thank Jesus, our Lord, for this blessing, and when we completely understand this mystery, we cannot have Him without tears.

So let us cry for our sins which is hurting our Lord severely. Let us console Him by our love, because of our  sins we may crucify Him again.

Lord Jesus, cleanse our sins with your Precious Blood. Jesus Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner!!

The Word of God

Daily Word On 4th Feb 2024

Jesus said, if we do not eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, we have no life in us.

John 6:52–53 (NJB): Then the Jews started arguing among themselves, ‘How can this man give us his flesh to eat?’  53 Jesus replied to them: In all truth I tell you, if you do not eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.

Jews asked Jesus how he could offer his flesh to the people to consume. They couldn't believe it. He became this celestial mystery through the will of Heavenly Father. According to the mystery of redemption, Jesus could die on the cross as a sacrifice to God, so establishing the everlasting Covenant.

Jesus was teaching the Jews that if they do not eat his body and drink his blood, they will not live. Jesus gives us life through his body and blood. No other god has done something like. Only the Father in Heaven has the authority to bring us salvation through Jesus Christ. We should think that Jesus is performing the Holy Mass on the Sacrament of Alters for the whole world  in order to save souls for the Father in Heaven.

The Light and Darkness

PART XXXVII

The people that walked in darkness has seen a great light

Today on 2nd Feb 2024 we celebrate the Presentation of the Lord in the temple. God is showing His Light(Jesus) to the whole world to bring them to the salvation, which He planned since beginning of this world. Isaiah 9:1 (NJB): ‘The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light; on the inhabitants of a country in shadow dark as death light has blazed forth.’ How we approach the light of Jesus is amazing as the whole world is in darkness and our good Lord allow us to meet Him in all the walks of our life.

A beautiful reflection on today’s Feast by St Sophronius.‘This, then, is our feast, and we join in procession with lighted candles to reveal the light that has shone upon us and the glory that is yet to come to us through him. So let us hasten all together to meet our God. The true light has come, the light that enlightens every man who is born into this world. Let all of us, my brethren, be enlightened and made radiant by this light. Let all of us share in its splendour, and be so filled with it that no one remains in the darkness. Let us be shining ourselves as we go together to meet and to receive with the aged Simeon the light whose brilliance is eternal. Rejoicing with Simeon, let us sing a hymn of thanksgiving to God, the Father of the light, who sent the true light to dispel the darkness and to give us all a share in his splendour. Through Simeon’s eyes we too have seen the salvation of God which he prepared for all the nations and revealed as the glory of the new Israel, which is ourselves. As Simeon was released from the bonds of this life when he had seen Christ, so we too were at once freed from our old state of sinfulness.’ Saint Sophronius, bishop.

God loves the world so much that He sacrificed His only Son on the Cross for our salvation. Jesus gave us his life by shedding his own blood for us as a libation to establish the New Everlasting Covenant forever. Heavenly Father has been pleased with this sacrifice because it ensures that we shall all live eternally. Today, at the start of Holy Mass, the priest blessed the candles as part of the feast.  John 3:16–17 (NJB): For this is how God loved the world: he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. 17 For God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but so that through him the world might be saved.

Jesus is the Living Bread came down from Heaven

John 6:48–51 (NJB): I am the bread of life. 49 Your fathers ate manna in the desert and they are dead; 50 but this is the bread which comes down from heaven, so that a person may eat it and not die. 51 I am the living bread which has come down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will live for ever; and the bread that I shall give is my flesh, for the life of the world.’

Jesus is the bread of life, he gives his flesh which is came down from Heaven. Our fathers are ate manna in the desert, but could not sustain in the eternal life. Jesus establish this new covenant by shedding his own life and this way he renewed the old covenant and established the new covenant which is the New Everlasing Covenant. Jesus is giving this heavenly bread by shedding his blood and died for us on the Cross in Calvery for us. When we eat his Body and Blood we will not die, we will have eternal life which is his promise. This is the sacrifice of the Lamb of God, the one and only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ our Lord!

The Light and Darkness

Jesus is the Light in Darkness

PART XXXVI

Lord, bring us out of the darkness of this world, bring us Your light to this world.

Jesus accepted the darkness for three days to fulfil the will of the Father to make a way of perfection for all humanity, for to establish the ever-lasting covenant through the sacrifice of his own life. Jesus told Jews about his descend to the dead in darkness. ‘Jesus answered, ‘Destroy this Temple, and three days I will raise it up. The Jews replied, ‘it has taken forty-six years to build this Temple: are you going to raise it up again in three days?’ But he was speaking of the Temple that was his body, and when Jesus rose from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the scripture and what he had said.’ (Jon. 2: 19-22)

But he never wasted any time in the darkness and he gave us the eternal life as a promise from the Father by his death and resurrection. It was God’s eternal mercy towards us sinners. ‘Christ himself died once and for all our sins, the upright for the sake of the guilty, to lead us to God. In the body he was put to death, in the spirit, he went to preach to the spirits in the prison. They refused to believe long ago, while God patiently waited to receive them, in Noah’s time when the ark was being built. In it only a few, that is eight souls, were saved though water. It is the baptism corresponding to this water which saves you now—not the washing off of physical dirt but the pledge of a good conscience given to God through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has entered heaven and is at God’s right hand, with angels, ruling forces and powers subject to him.’ (1Peter. 3: 18-22) He entered the black prison of purgatory. What a love! He wants for us to save our ancestors who were imprisoned by Satan the liar. Many hearts waited for him to hear God's Word, which was both light and life for them. See how merciful He is, for He is God. He went to see all the dead and rebellious sinners who were in the depths of the darkness. Who can go to Purgatory? Except that only God is capable of doing this. He resurrected the souls from the darkness and handed them over to Heavenly Father on the third day.  God transformed the corrupted body of human nature into a glorious one by offering His own Son's life for us. This is an incredible secret that God is revealing to us. Many people today still do not realize the Truth that is contained in Jesus Christ.

The Daily Word of God

Daily Word On 27th Jan 2024

Lord, increase our faith by listening and obeying Your Holy Word, Amen!!

Jeremiah 7:23–24 (NJB): My one command to them was this: Listen to my voice, then I will be your God and you shall be my people. In everything, follow the way that I mark out for you, and you shall prosper. 24 But they did not listen, they did not pay attention; they followed their own devices, their own stubborn and wicked inclinations, and got worse rather than better.

Here God is referring to one command: listen to His voice, which ultimately means listen to and obey His Word. Every day, we read and listen to many Words of God. He promises that if we follow him, we will prosper spiritually and materially, and we will not lack anything in our lives. But He complains that we didn't listen and instead followed our own inclinations.  Our hearts grew hard, and we followed our natural desires, which displeased God. As a result, our lives deteriorated rather than improved.

Lord, we pray for our material needs and not pleading for our strength, which is obstructing our spiritual life. Lord we lament for our lack of faith which is keeping us away from You.

The Light and Darkness

PART XXXV

Yahweh, God of my salvation, when I cry out to you in the night, may my prayer reach your presence, hear my cry for help.

In Psalm Chapter 88 is very much connected to the passion of Jesus. He was thrown into this pit of darkness because of our sins, which Psalmist. It was full of darkness and there were nobody is there to save him, because it was the darkness of the sins of the whole world since the beginning and till the end. Jesus brought the Light into the world to win over the darkness as per the plan of Heavenly Father. Through his death, Jesus gave us the salvation for the dead, living and for those still to be born. We always calculate the mysteries of heavenly kingdom by our own mind and knowledge. God is speaking to us through the Prophet Isiah in the scriptures: for my thoughts are not your thoughts and your ways are not my ways, declares Yahweh. For the heavens are as high above earth as my ways are above your ways, my thoughts above your thoughts.’ (Is. 55: 8-9)

Psalmist prophesy about Jesus’ suffering in the pit of darkness

‘Yahweh, God of my salvation,

when I cry out to you in the night,

may my prayer reach your presence,

hear my cry for help.

For I am filled with misery,

My life is on the brink of Sheol;

Already numbered among those who sink into oblivion,

I am as one bereft of strength,

Left alone among the dead,

Like the slaughtered lying in the grave,

Whom you remember no more,

Cut off as they are from your protection.

You have plunged me to the bottom of the grave,

In the darkness, in the depths;

Weighted down by your anger,

Kept low by your waves.

You have deprived me of my friends,

Made me repulsive to them,

Imprisoned, with no escape;

My eyes are worn out with suffering.

I call to you, Yahweh, all day,

I stretch out my hands to you.

Do you work wonders for the dead,

Can shadows rise up to praise to you?

Do they speak in the grave of your faithful love?

of your constancy in the place of perdition?

Are your wonders known in the darkness?

your saving justice in the land of oblivion?

But for my part, I cry to you, Yahweh,

Every morning my prayer comes before you;

Why, Yahweh, do you rebuff me?

Turn your face away from me?

Wretched and close to death since childhood,

I have borne your terrors—I am finished!

Your anger has overwhelmed me,

Your terrors annihilated me.

They flood around me all day long,

Close in on me all at once.

You have deprived me of friends and companions,

And all that I know is the dark. (Ps. 88)

Everything was darkness there as Psalmist mentioned here. Jesus experienced this darkness throughout his passion. In this deep dungeon, he was alone for one day. During last day of his suffering and in perscicution his friends the apostles and all other disciples were left him alone except some women companions and of course Mother Mary.

(The hymn that David sung is fulfilled in this pit of darkness, where Jesus was imprisoned for one day and night before being crucified. Khaiaphas, the high priest, imprisoned Jesus in this cell alone. While visiting the Holy Land with Fr Eugiene, we read Psalm 88 under the pit of Jail where Jesus was imprisoned. The place resembles a deep dungeon with a little opening from above. It's a kind of well, with steps leading to the end. In the time of Jesus, there was no step to descend to this dungeon. After reaching down into the dungeon, the guide turned out the light. Light cannot enter this pit, which is completely dark. And we sensed Jesus' presence in our midst and shared his pain. Fr Eugiene led us to a pedestal where the Bible was stored, and one of our group members recited Psalm 88 from the Bible using a candlelight without turning on the light. We could feel Jesus' anguish when a lector read the Psalm, and most of us cried in the middle and at the end.)

Lord, protect us from the darkness of this world. In the time of Prophet Noah: Lord, with your anger you throw all the people into deepest of the water. You gave them the time for repentance, but they didn’t obey. Lord, give us the humility and obedience to do your will. St Michael Archangel, pray for us.
